This was the first destination conference I’ve flown out to and attended in my professional career. While I’ve attended many online conferences and a handful of in-person ones in Seattle, I made it a point to attend Config in person because I’ve come to understand its value as a central hub for UI/UX designers and forward-thinking design conversations.

Though the crowds and long commutes between sessions were a bit overwhelming at times, I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to learn alongside other like-minded creatives and discover new ways to grow my skills—especially with Figma at the core.

Above are the notes I captured in FigJam on my iPad during the conference. Below, you’ll find my key takeaways and the presentation I shared with my team during our weekly design hour.
To be transparent, attending this conference was a significant personal investment. Between the ticket, airfare, and local accommodations (Airbnb), the overall cost was high for my current budget. While the in-person networking opportunities were valuable, I’m not sure the benefits outweigh the financial commitment without company support in the future.

That said, I had a memorable experience and plan to stay actively engaged in the Figma community through their online forums and by attending future conferences virtually.
